Day 1: Marrakech to Ait Benhaddou – The Road to the Desert
Your journey begins with an early departure from Marrakech. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass, with stops at Telouet Kasbah and the stunning Ounila Valley. These landscapes offer dramatic views and are perfect for photo stops. In the evening, unwind at a charming riad near the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou. This fortified village is one of Morocco’s most iconic sights.
(For the 4-day version, this overnight stop is skipped, and you head straight to the desert the next day.)
Days 2 – 3: Erg Chigaga – Aladdin Desert Camp Experience
After breakfast, you’ll set off for the Sahara. The route takes you through Taznakht, a town famous for Berber carpets, and Foum Zguid, where the paved road ends and the adventure deepens.
By afternoon, you’ll arrive at Aladdin Desert Camp in the remote Erg Chigaga dunes. Far from the crowds, this is the ultimate desert escape. Enjoy camel treks, sandboarding, and mesmerizing sunsets. At night, savor a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars, followed by music around the campfire.
Wake up the next day to the silence of the dunes, and make the most of your desert time with more activities or simply relax and soak in the serenity.
Day 4: Chigaga to Todra Gorge – Mountain & Valley Landscapes
Departing from the camp after breakfast, you’ll drive past M’Hamid el Ghizlane, visit Tamegroute’s ancient Koranic library, and pass through Zagora, the gateway to the Draa Valley.
From there, you’ll continue towards the Jbel Saghro massif via Alnif, and reach the spectacular Todra Gorge, famous for its towering rock walls. Spend the night at a cozy guesthouse nestled in the gorge.
Day 5: Todra to Fez – The Road Less Traveled
The final leg of your journey takes you north through landscapes few travelers get to see. You’ll pass through a secret gorge, rarely marked on maps, before rejoining the main road at Er-Rich.
On the way to Fez, enjoy a stop in Ifrane National Park, home to cedar forests and Barbary Macaque monkeys. By late afternoon, you’ll arrive in Fez, ready to explore its ancient medina.
